I keep all my files on a separate hard drive, so I can access anything from any operating system, and delete and reinstall OSs anytime. Likewise I keep all my application installers, and a restoration CD containing all the packages I install on a linux distro.
My current set up is a tri-boot with ASPLinux 12 Carbon, Vista Ultimate and Ubuntu 8.04.

I recall it being made in C, C++, and some others. Not sure about C#.

C# being made by Microsoft for the .NET platform, it wouldn't be able to be used to make an OS (believe me, I've tried). It's written in an assembly language, C/C++ and Python...depending on the distro, pretty much anything goes. And since the applications are normally open source, and the packages are contained in installation possibly they count. And they are written in everything - C, Python, Lua (Or Lisp, I get them confused)
