I was playing with Flux, its nice. But not that good for a working decent machine.

Um the XFCE is getting popular. Kde is nice if you like a vista look, Gnome for a more 2000/xp look.

I used to ALWAYS use KDE (Kubuntu) but after KDE 4 I went of it, besides, I have found more recent versions of Kubuntu to have issues with several hardware setups and I always find GNOME faster and easier to customize.
